First launch
An internet connection is required once: Z-Codex downloads its skill catalog (~8 MB, about five minutes) directly from the public Guild Wars Wiki, at a deliberately throttled pace to stay gentle on the wiki.
After that one-time fetch, the app starts in seconds and runs fully offline. When the game updates, Z-Codex detects it and offers to refresh its catalog.
